For this Independent Learning
Project, I completed a tutorial on Lynda.com. I did the first course under
Design Thinking, “Stay Competitive Using Design Thinking.” This was an
interesting course to choose, seeing as how I had no prior knowledge. However,
it was interesting and I felt it was important to gather an understanding of
what Design Thinking was.
First of all, I got to utilize the “Resource”
tab on my.fsu.edu for the first time, so I already learned something before I
even started the tutorial. The Lynda course taught me what Design Thinking was,
as well as how and where it can be used. Basically, design thinking is creating
solutions for clients or “real users,” it is business and tech workers co-operating,
and it makes sure the “solutions” created will generate business. If done
correctly, Design Thinking will help businesses move faster, make sure everyone
involved has a clear understanding, and will help customers/clients with any
issues they are experiencing. The instructor on the course video called design
thinking “sexy,” and clarified that it is actually design doing. It includes validating, observing, creating, and finding
root problems.
Because I completed part of the
course, I earned a certificate. This was a great experience!
