blog 10

It is my goal to become eventually become a Religion professor at a university. I think that I could definitely utilize surveys and reporting tools, especially if my class is larger. This way I could keep up with the majority of the class, asking questions that relate to understanding of the concepts I teach. If I sent out a survey that tested them on certain aspects of the material then I could later review what percentage of my class understood what central points. With this information, I could have a better understanding and accurate representation of the wellbeing and status of my class. Also, as I would be teaching Religion, I could use surveys to see where the majority of my students hold their beliefs and cater to their interests.
I liked reviewing the blogs of other members of EME class because it was very interesting to be able to see how they related the information to their own places of study and future careers. Because the class is a computer class, we don’t have quite as many opportunities for class discussions. However, I think the blogs are an excellent way to share ideas and thoughts throughout fellow students. Everyone is able to think of ways the technology we learn about would help them in the future, whether they’re an elementary school teacher or college professor.

A technology-related skill I would like to learn more about is lecture part of the “flipped classroom.” I do not plan on leading a flipped classroom, however, I know how excited I would be if I had access to the actual lecture presented in the classroom at home. It would be an excellent tool for review, study, and reference. To create the ideal at-home lecture, I want to be able to learn how to allow students to see the presentation, hear my voice, and watch as I annotate/underline/highlight certain aspects on my slides. In order to learn how to do this, I am planning on researching different resources on the web. I feel as though there would be lots of information out there, as this is a rising trend in the classrooms of this technology era.
