I believe that out of all the very important ELA Technology standards, I am currently most prepared to teach is “To Write to Explain/Inform.” This is probably because I have always loved English, and am majoring in English Education. Words, ideas expressed in text, support, evidence, and organization are extremely relevant to me, and I love the idea that technology can help develop papers and thesis's even further. The Technology Standard I am probably least prepared to teach (as of right now) would have to be “‘Multimedia’: Informational Text.” I feel unprepared to educate anyone on this topic because I have little experience dealing with “animations, or interactive elements on a webpage” and though I understand the importance of such tools, I do not know how to use them smoothly and effectively.
My goal is to teach high school, and I know that there are many technology applications and lots of software that my students will be able to utilize for their education. I think email is one of the most important. Being able to respond and assist to students quickly and efficiently just increases the trust and the feelings of one-on-one teaching. I also have always loved chats and discussion groups online because it allows students to see the way other students feel, and to communicate with others safely online. Using technology in and out of the classroom does create more expectations for students, however. These are outlined in the “Digital Citizenship Guidelines,” and they’re all very important (223). Like I said, I would like to teach high school so I know that, for example, the concept of protecting personal information is very important especially while using online chats and discussion groups.

I personally liked the Newsletter assignment because it was fun and exciting to get to write from the point of view of a teacher, as well as learn new tricks in MS Word. The column tool was new to me, as well as using a border. Next time I would like to improve the aesthetics of my newsletter, and to include a more interactive element. I think this assignment is going to be useful in my future career because it was awesome to be able to create something specifically for my future classroom, and to imagine myself in the future using technology to communicate ideas and stay connected to my student’s families.
